The Kildare Growers Group, who have organised the successful Kildare Trade Show for the past 24 years has announced, that to facilitate a full review and revamp of the trade show, it will not take place this year.

The Group, who organised the 2009 show in association with Bord Bia (Irish Food Board) have decided to use 2010 to carry out a comprehensive and independent review of the show with a view to setting out a new strategy for its development for 2011 and beyond. Bord Bia has agreed to facilitate the review which will also look at developing the show to incorporate other sectors of horticulture.  

The decision was the result of careful consideration, taking into account commentary from industry leaders, the current economic environment and the considerable time and financial support that the group and its members provided to the show in recent years.  Aligned to this, the acknowledgement by the group that to provide a sustainable professional event into the future, a deeper understanding of the industry’s needs and requirements should first be assessed to develop the show. 

The show is the only trade show for the amenity sector in Ireland and as such has served as a very important business event for nurseries and sundry suppliers to the sector. The significant numbers of attendees who visited the show every year since its establishment is testament to the important role it has played in the growth of the amenity sector down the years.

The review of the Kildare Show will commence shortly and key players from all associated sectors of the industry will be contacted in the near future for their views and input. Kildare Growers would like to thank all the businesses and people who have participated and assisted with the Kildare Show through the years and look forward to welcoming them to a revamped show in 2011.
